UNFPA India

United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) India promotes reproductive health and rights and prevents gender-based violence. The international organisation is interested in Finnish technology and knowhow related to AI and digital platforms, inclusive infrastructure, and capacity building on care and psychosocial support to empower women and girls.

Through a combination of technology-driven solutions, strengthened service delivery systems, and private sector engagement, UNFPA is helping expand access to information, protection, and care for women and girls across India. The organisation is looking to partner with Finnish companies and organisations to further develop three different initiatives.

1. JustAsk! chatbot

The JustAsk! (Khulke Poocho!) chatbot is an AI-powered, multilingual digital engagement platform. It provides youth a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space to access accurate information and services related to sexual and reproductive health and rights, and mental well-being. The platform features relatable digital role models and connects users to frontline health facilities. Since its launch, the platform has reached nearly 900,000 users and generated more than 4 million interactions.

UNFPA India is seeking to partner with Finnish companies to scale and strengthen the JustAsk! platform. Priority areas include integrating advanced generative AI capabilities to provide more personalised, context-aware, and multilingual support; expanding content on online safety, technology-enabled gender-based violence prevention, and mental health; enhancing referral pathways to health and protection services; and increasing outreach to underserved adolescents and young people.

2. One Stop Centres

The One Stop Centre scheme provides support for women affected by gender-based violence under one roof. The centres facilitate access to medical assistance, legal aid, police support, psychosocial counselling, and temporary shelter. UNFPA has strengthened the centres through infrastructure enhancements, disability-inclusive design, trauma-informed care training, and confidential digital solutions for case tracking and survivor support.

UNFPA India is interested in Finnish solutions to scale and develop the services within One Stop Centres. Priority areas include infrastructure solutions to create more dignified and inclusive spaces, and disability-friendly and child-friendly facilities. There is also a need for digital solutions related to case management and service coordination. Moreover, UNFPA is looking for organisations providing capacity building on trauma-informed and survivor-centred care, and psychosocial support.

3. Coalition for Reproductive Justice in Business

The Coalition for Reproductive Justice in Business is a global initiative that seeks to embed sexual and reproductive health and rights, women’s economic empowerment, and gender equality into private-sector policies, supply chains, and workplace practices. The initiative supports companies in advancing policy reforms, increasing employee awareness, and expanding access to care including maternal health, family planning, and menstrual and menopausal health, for example.

Potential collaboration areas with Finnish companies include workplace well-being, women’s health, gender-responsive employment policies, supply-chain engagement, and environmental, social and governance linked investments.

Finnpartnership support for piloting

Finnish companies can receive Business Partnership Support for piloting with an ODA-eligible international organisation, such as UNFPA India. Financial grant can be awarded for a pilot or demonstration project related to a technology or solution implemented as part of the organisation’s activities.

The funding amount ranges from EUR 15,000–400,000, and for projects in India, Finnpartnership covers 50 or 70 percent of the approved project costs, depending on the size of the applicant company.
