In June 2026, Finnish companies and education sector stakeholders travelled to Accra, Ghana, to attend eLearning Africa, the continent’s largest digital education event. The visit followed up on the previous year’s successful delegation trip to eLearning Africa in Tanzania and offered Finnish stakeholders the opportunity to strengthen existing contacts and explore new partnership opportunities in the rapidly developing education sector.

The Finnish delegation consisted of nine education sector stakeholders representing a wide range of expertise within digital learning, educational solutions, and skills development. The delegation showcased its knowhow and solutions at the fair at a joint Team Finland booth and actively participated in presentations and panel discussions, as well as in bilateral meetings with stakeholders from across Africa.

Digital learning and vocational education and training featured in cooperation discussions

The week’s programme also included the “Doing Business with Finland” seminar, organised in collaboration with Education Finland, Embassy of Finland in Abuja, Laaru Consulting, and local partners, which brought together Finnish and Ghanaian education sector stakeholders to discuss opportunities for cooperation. At the event, Prince Charles Agyemang-Duah, Director of the Ghana Education Service, and Cecil Senna Nutakor, CEO and founder of eCampus, provided an overview of Ghana’s development goals for the education sector. In addition to presentations by Finnish companies, Ambassador for Education Outi Hakanen and Maria Palmu, Senior Specialist at Education Finland, introduced Finnish educational expertise to local participants.

At the core of the seminar were the B2B Matchmaking sessions, where participants had the opportunity to discuss potential partnerships one-on-one. Topics that emerged during the discussions included digital learning, skills development and education systems, vocational education, and the use of data in teaching.

From new contacts to partnerships

Participating in eLearning Africa provided Finnish organisations with an excellent opportunity to establish new contacts and deepen their understanding of the local operating environment. At the same time, Ghanaian partners gained insight into Finnish educational expertise and the solutions it offers for developing the education sector.

Participants were very satisfied with the results of the visit. During the week, new contacts were made and several follow-up discussions on cooperation were initiated. There was strong interest in Finnish expertise, and the event week once again laid a solid foundation for building new partnerships. We would like to extend our warmest thanks to the Embassy of Finland in Abuja and Deputy Head of Mission Maria Ruuskanen, Honorary Consul Elikem Nutifafa Kuenyehia, the teams at Education Finland and Laaru Consulting, as well as the education sector companies and organisations that participated, for a successful visit and for taking part in eLearning Africa!
