Circular economy opens new market opportunities for Finnish and Zambian companies

Following the successful FinnBiz Week, held in Zambia in February 2023, Finnpartnership organised a virtual event on circular economy opportunities together with the Embassy of Finland in Zambia and the Accelerated Growth for SMEs (AGS) Programme. Held on 20 March, the event zoomed in on the recently released market study on circular economy opportunities in Zambia. 

The study aimed to understand the specific needs of the Zambian market. Overall, the study identified ten opportunities which together present economic opportunities of around US$ 712 million. The participating Finnish and Zambian companies had a chance to hear about the most potential opportunities related to waste collection and separation, recycling and reuse of materials, and on waste to energy. 

The participants also discussed how Finnish companies could support realising the business opportunities in Zambia. Companies can benefit from Finnpartnership’s Business Partnership Support for planning and implementing their circular economy related projects.  

The event provided a timely outlook as at the end of May, Sitra World Circular Economy Forum will take place in Helsinki. The AGS Programme will lead a delegation of Zambian circular economy companies joining the event.
