Leverage DevelopmentAid to enter new markets and discover tenders

DevelopmentAid DevelopmentAid

DevelopmentAid is a tool for business development, market intelligence and finding partners – not just a database of tenders. Hundreds of Finnish companies operating in developing markets already use the DevelopmentAid portal. Through Finnpartnership, all Finnish SMEs have free access to the service.

Gain insight into tenders and grants

The service brings together calls for proposals and grant opportunities from leading international development finance institutions and donors, including:

  • Multilateral development finance institutions
  • UN organisations and agencies
  • EU institutions and programmes
  • Bilateral development cooperation and donor organisations
  • Regional organisations
  • Foundations and special funding mechanisms
  • Public sector procurement

In addition to open tenders and grants, the portal also contains information on upcoming projects. The service also provides details of previous tenders, including the organisation(s) that won the contracts. This enables users to gain a clearer understanding of potential partners and competitors within a specific sector.

Identify partners and competitors

DevelopmentAid website features a database comprising over 530,000 organisations, nearly 70 per cent of which are businesses. Of these businesses, over 200,000 are based in Asia, Africa and Latin America. There are, in turn, over 90,000 companies from EU Member States, of which just under 2,000 are from Finland. The companies in the database include, for example, suppliers, manufacturers, service providers, engineering firms and consultants.

In addition, the database contains profiles of funders, organisations, associations and networks, various public institutions, and research and educational institutions from around the world.

For individual organisations, it is possible to obtain information on tenders in which they have been selected as a supplier or shortlisted. Particularly in the case of larger tenders, it may be relevant for a Finnish organisation to seek collaboration with larger organisations that have already established a successful presence in the market.

In many tenders or grant schemes, one of the criteria may be that a local partner also participates in the project.

How to get started

Get in touch with us and we’ll grant you access to the DevelopmentAid website. The service provides Finnish SMEs an unlimited access to the portal and its services until end of April 2027.

As the website contains a wealth of information, it’s worth using the advanced search menu to narrow down the tenders, grants, potential partners and competitors most relevant to your organisation’s activities. DevelopmentAid also offers training on how to use the site.
