UNDP Ethiopia refugee camp

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is inviting Finnish companies and organisations to collaborate on sustainable infrastructure solutions in Ethiopia. The current work focuses on displacement-affected areas in eastern Ethiopia, in particular the Qoloji refugee camp. Join the webinar on 26 May at 13:00-15:00 (Finnish time) to learn more about concrete needs on the ground and to present your solutions directly to UNDP representatives as well as local government authorities.

UNDP Ethiopia is supporting the transition of displacement‑affected areas towards more sustainable, climateresilient and economically viable settlements, in close collaboration with regional and local authorities. As part of this work, UNDP is seeking private‑sector driven solutions that combine development impact with scalable business models.

Priority solution areas

At this stage, UNDP is particularly interested in Finnish solutions related to:

  • Renewable energy solutions, such as solar mini‑grids, pay‑as‑you‑go energy systems and clean energy services
  • Climateresilient and energyefficient housing technologies, including modular, durable and affordable construction solutions
  • Smart water systems, such as solar‑powered boreholes, efficient water distribution and digital monitoring solutions

Who should join

The webinar is intended for Finnish companies, organisations and consortia offering solutions or services that respond to the identified priority areas.

During the webinar, each Finnish company and organisation will have the opportunity to pitch their solutions directly to UNDP. Based on the presentations, UNDP will identify suitable partners to further develop pilot projects and cooperation models.

UNDP representatives will also share insights into the key challenges, priorities and operational context in Ethiopia, including how the identified solution areas link to ongoing and planned interventions.

To support collaboration, Finnish companies can apply for up to EUR 400,000 of Finnpartnership’s Business Partnership Support grant to pilot solutions with UNDP and/or to co‑develop solutions together with local partners in Ethiopia.

Participation

Register to the webinar below. Each company and organisation are requested to send a 2-slide presentation (see an example) to Finnpartnership and prepare to hold a max 2-minute presentation during the event.
