A prolonged drought that has lasted already 7 years has caused serious challenges for Morocco’s population and the country’s agricultural sector. Various organisations from companies to institutions and universities have set finding solutions to the drought at the forefront of their agenda.

At the same time, Morocco is rapidly modernising. Through its Digital Morocco 2030 strategy, the country is aiming to modernise its economy and public services through digital innovation. Tourism is also rapidly growing, and with the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2030, large infrastructure projects are underway to meet the upcoming demands.

Against this background, Finnpartnership, together with Business Finland and the Embassy of Finland in Rabat, organised a business mission to Morocco in mid-February. With 15 Finnish companies and organisations and nearly 30 people attending, the visit was the largest of its kind from Finland to Morocco.

The focus of the visit was to build partnerships between Finnish and Moroccan organisations, especially in water management, digitalisation, energy, research, and skills development which are all vital sectors and issues for the future of Morocco. The highlight of the visit was a Doing Business with Finland seminar organised together with Confédération Générale des Entreprises du Maroc (CGEM) in Casablanca. Moreover, the delegation met with several relevant stakeholders in the capital city Rabat prior to the seminar.
