Finnish companies sought new partnerships in Malaysia’s growing markets
Finnpartnership organised a business delegation visit to Malaysia in January 2026 with the aim of supporting Finnish companies and organisations in building partnerships with local actors. During the visit, two Doing Business with Finland seminars were held in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, bringing together a total of approximately 300 participants.
The events focused on the energy transition, digitalisation, and education, which are key priority areas in Malaysia’s national development strategy. Malaysia has ambitious goals in these sectors, and Finnish expertise is well positioned to support the country’s sustainable and knowledge-based development.
Fourteen Finnish organisations took part in the events, meeting with local companies, authorities, and other key stakeholders. At the core of the programme were B2B meetings and discussions aimed at identifying shared interests and laying the groundwork for long-term business partnerships.

The events offered Finnish companies a practical opportunity to test market interest, explore the local business environment, and identify potential partners. Several participants initiated follow-up discussions with Malaysian counterparts, and the visit created a solid foundation for new partnerships in a rapidly growing economy.
The main local partners were the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Embassy of Finland in Kuala Lumpur. An extensive local partner network helped ensure that the events addressed both the objectives of Finnish companies and Malaysia’s development needs.
