Join Team Finland to Expominas and mining business seminar in Ecuador

Expominas, organised in Ecuador’s capital Quito, holds an import role for the global mining industry for promoting the development of a high-tech, modern and responsible industry. In 2024, the trade fair celebrates its 10-year anniversary.

In a joint Team Finland effort, we are inviting Finnish mining and supporting sector companies as well as organisations providing mining-related training and education to showcase their offering in Ecuador.

Finnpartnership offers all Finnish companies and organisations the opportunity to benefit from a common Team Finland exhibition stand throughout the trade fair. In addition, Finnpartnership in cooperation with Mining Finland, Business Finland, Embassy of Finland and Chamber of Mines of Ecuador will organise a seminar on 10 July to showcase the Finnish mining industry to local key stakeholders. In addition to the trade fair, the seminar also provides a good platform for connecting with potential partners and customers. Expominas is a three-day trade fair spanning from Wednesday 10 July to Friday 12 July.

Ecuador has excellent mineral resources on par with neighboring Peru, Colombia and Chile. The most valuable mineral exports include gold, copper and silver.

The country’s mining exports exceeded USD 3.2bn in 2023. Pushed by both higher gold and copper prices as well as increased year-on-year production, the export value grew close to 20% from 2022. The recent favorable development has placed mining as the fastest growing sector in Ecuador, also ranking fourth in national exports. Mining has grown to become a significant employer, with around 100,000 jobs registered in the sector.

Finland has a good reputation in the Ecuadorian mining sector, after having financed significant mining projects and supplied the industry with crucial technology.

Sub-sector opportunities include among others:

Mineral exploration including geophysics, mapping, and tunneling equipment
Production equipment for drilling, extraction, loading, hauling, and crushing
Mining software for resource estimation, modeling, mine design, and optimization
Mine safety equipment

Finnish companies can apply for Finnpartnership’s financial grant Business Partnership Support before the trip, should the plan be to map the potential for long-term business activities in Ecuador. Specifically related to Expominas and the seminar, the funding covers flights, accommodation and working days throughout the week.
