Cooperation proposal

The company has been working on improvement, production and supplying of seeds since its establishment. It has successfully implemented a full seed processing system and agricultural mechanization to meet the growing demand for seeds. With a focus on sustainable farming practices, the company has expanded operations to multiple districts across various states of Somalia, contributing to enhanced food security and livelihoods for local farmers.

It is now expanding by adding a full irrigation system and a vegetable tin-packaging system to face the current challenges related to water scarcity. Currently, the company seeks investment partners for the procurement and installation of a center pivot irrigation system for a 60-hectare field, solar water desalination system and tin-packaging machine. The Finnish company is expected to provide knowhow and to supply the machines and equipment.

CSET Seed Production Ltd is a member of African Seed Trade Association (AFSTA). The company was established for the production, processing & supplying of seeds; creating cooperatives; and promoting agro business opportunities. The company’s aim is to increase seed production with high quality, high yield and drought tolerance.

Their mandates are to develop institutions in agriculture sector that builds farming capacity, supports agriculture consultancy, product quality agri-inputs, creates cooperatives and contributes to a greater society. CSET not only focuses on producing high-quality, drought-tolerant seeds but also offers technical training, soil testing, mechanized land preparation, and cooperative development. This holistic model supports farmers from seed to harvest, ensuring better productivity and market linkage.

The farming community operating in collaboration with CSET produces:

• Cereal Crops: Sorghum and Maize
• Legume Crops: Mung bean and Cowpea
• Vegetable Crops: spinach, onion, lettuce, carrot, okra, tomato,
• Oil and Crops: Sesame, Sunflower, Groundnut and Soybean.
• Forage Crops: Sudan grass, Alfalfa, Mullato II, Boma Rhodes grass, White clover grass and Forage from harvested Maize & Sorghum.

Markets and customers

CSET only operates in Somalia their main clients being cooperatives, small and big holder farmers, distributary companies/ agro dealers and NGOs.
