The company's main products include Maras Pink Salt, which is a salt harvested in Maras. Maras is a town in the Sacred Valley of the Inkas, 40 km north of Cusco. The town is well known for its salt evaporation ponds, which have been in use since Inka times. The salt evaporation ponds are four km north of the town, down a canyon that descends to the Vilcanota river. The community of Maras, that owns the salt mines from where pink salt is extracted, is a native community. Tierra del Monte, works with this community since the beginning as their only gate to international trade and local commerce of their production. The value added by Tierra del Monte assures work for many families not only in Cusco but also in the city of Lima where it is located.
The formats developed by the company quality standards and prices have made them one of the leader brands in Peru. Their contracts with the Maras community enable them, as the only company with community permissions, to export the pink salt from Maras community with their original name. Together with the pink salt of Maras, the organic panela is also a product that aligns their mission with a social goal, which is helping communities to approach their exquisite products to the world.
The company is looking for a strategic company or distributor who could manage their brand in Finland or any European country. The purpose is to introduce their brands in retail and as raw input for producing other products in other sectors such as beauty and food industries.
