Project abstractSonghai Regional Center for East Africa (Songhai Center), Ugandan company specialised in production of Ethanol converted cook stoves is searching for Finnish partners for investment and construction of an ethanol stove manufacturing/assembling plant.

Project descriptionThe company, established in 2016 is based in Kampala, Uganda and currently employs 5 persons.

Songhai Regional Center for East Africa (Songhai Center) plans to be in the business of distributing and marketing Ethanol as a domestic fuel through an installed base of Ethanol converted cook stoves to low income households in the rural district communities in Uganda.

The company’s main products include:

- E-stove ethanol conversion kits for installation in traditional charcoal clay stoves. These kits consist of an ethanol burner and fitting feeding canister also to be used as refueling canister
- Packed Ethanol distribution through retail fuel stations and shops
- Bulk Ethanol through dispenser trucks and retail station network

The company has been marketing the stoves and fuel at small scale. Songhai Regional Center for East Africa (Songhai Center) is striving to operate on a larger scale and the company is currently searching for a partner to invest and provide technical support for the production and manufacturing of an ethanol stove conversion kit (burner and canisters). By investing in an ‘ethanol stoves’ assembling plant, the partner will benefit from profits accrued from the sale and marketing of the conversion kits. The partner will also benefit from Carbon Credit that are associated with investments that reduce carbon oxide remission.

The customers for the product would be end consumer households, school and day care institutions cooking facilities and restaurant/catering facilities in the rural district communities. All facilities that at present use charcoal and firewood for domestic heating.
