Project abstractSIMAD University is looking for Finnish educational institutions, hospitals, pharmacies, companies, mentors and investors to help them build a Finnish model of higher learning education, consultancy, research and health care services in Somalia.
Project descriptionSIMAD University is a Somalian higher learning institution founded in 1999. It is involved in the profession of higher quality academic and professional programs at all levels with a commitment of enhancing the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of the learners. SIMAD University serves as a specialized center for training, research, and consultancy in Somalia. The SIMAD Hospital is aiming to develop home-grown solutions and services related to the treatment of disease, impacts of conflicts, and the implementation of stronger public health measures.
In its quest to improve the quality of higher education in Somalia, SIMAD University offers a diverse range of undergraduate courses of international standards in various disciplines. These include economics, statistics, business, accountancy, computer science, technology, education, law, public administration, and allied health sciences. SIMAD University has recently opened an innovation lab to support the growth of innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship education in Somalia and beyond. The SIMAD iLab regularly hosts workshops focused on business ideation and teamwork and assist micro-businesses to scale up and provide a leading crowdfunding platform in Somalia. SIMAD also offer a highly competitive and selective accelerator program called the LEAP initiative. This mentorship and financing program targets startups at the idea stage, as well as existing startups in need of mentorship and financing opportunities.
