Project abstractIlays Educational Academy is a Somalian educational social enterprise specialized in primary education, high school education, vocational training and adult education is searching for Finnish educational institutions and companies, mentors and investors to help building a Finnish model school to Kismayo, Somalia.
Project descriptionIlays Educational Academy, established in 2004 is based in Lasanod, Somalia and currently employs 90 persons.
The academy provides 80% of the local educational needs in Nugaal Valley society in Sool, Sanaag and Cayn and they now wish to replicate the success of this region in Jubbaland State of Somalia in the city of Kismayo. They currently have two centres one in Lasanod and one in Mogadishu, Somalia. The academy has 40 Acres of land to build the School and the Teachers to deliver the curriculum. Their target groups are primary and secondary education school age children. The academy also has a teacher training facility for university graduates that are interested in teaching and the social enterprise also caters for adults without any prior education by teaching them literacy and numeracy. So far the academy has educated more than 15 000 students from 2004 to 2017.
Ilays Educational Academy is searching for Finnish educational institutions, education related companies, mentors and investors to help building a Finnish model school to Kismayo, Somalia. The academy hopes to replicate the success of Finnish education to Somalia in collaboration with the Finnish education related partners.
