Project abstractExim, Burundian company specialised in producing mattresses is searching for Finnish partners that manufacture foaming and cutting machinery suitable for the production of mattresses.
The company, established in 1983 is based in Bujumbura, Burundi and currently employs 45 persons.
The company’s main products include mattresses (producing over 20,000 annually). The products have density varying from 12 to a density of 30, with width from 90 cm to 2 meters, and thickness that ranges from 1cm to 20cm. The company purchases all its main raw material from Europe and all the spare parts and maintenance the production line are acquired from Belgium and Germany.
The customers so far have been from Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The company has 7 trade intermediaries in Burundi divided in the 17 province distributing the company’s products outside of Bujumbura, Burundi. The company also has three distributors in DRC. In addition, the company has a boutique in downtown Bujumbura where customers can purchase their products.
The company is currently looking for Finnish manufacturers of foaming and cutting machinery that are suitable for the production of mattresses. Exim has aging machinery that needs to be upgraded to increase productivity and efficiency and the company is planning to create a line of production with newer technology.
According to the company they have access to local financing to co-finance its investment and the company would be interested in discussing with the Finnish company about a venture to co-invest or co-finance the machinery.
