Project abstractConstruction Development Corporation Limited, a Bhutanese company specialized in infrastructure development is searching for Finnish partners for water and waste water management in Bhutan.
Project description
The company, established in 2006 is based in Thimphu, Bhutan and currently employs 300 persons. The company is a subsidiary of Druk Holdings and Investments (DHI) which is the principal industrial and financial entity wholly owned by the Government of Bhutan.
The company’s main services include infrastructure development and construction projects in Bhutan. These projects range from hydro power projects construction to roads, bridges and construction of technology park. The company has very modern construction and maintenance equipment imported from reputed international suppliers.
The customers so far have been Bhutanese Govt., municipal corporations, state enterprises and other Bhutanese entities in the public and private sectors.
The company is currently looking for a partner for water supply and waste water treatment design and construction. The company wishes that the partner would provide technology & knowhow, design tools, engineering, procurement & construction services and a potential joint venture or other forms of partnership. Also required would be appropriate training for Bhutanese managers, engineers and technicians.
The first project is intended for the capital Thimphu, where currently all the waste water generated flows into the Thimphu River which flows through the town. This causes pollution of the water which is also the source for providing drinking water to Thimphu and neighbouring areas. In addition to the harm this causes to the fish species in the river, the other major problem that needs to be resolved is that the pollution and sullage has a major effect on the downstream hydro electricity projects - a major revenue earner for Bhutanese entities.
