Sierra Leone’s delegation visit to Helsinki opened new business opportunities

The delegation consisting of Sierra Leone’s ministers and other state representatives promoted cooperation opportunities between Finnish and Sierra Leoneans, especially in the education, real estate, agriculture and forestry sectors. In connection with the delegation’s visit, a two-day Sierra Leone / Finland Investment Forum was organized on October 11-12th in Helsinki where the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Sierra Leone Abu Bakarr Karim presented his views on country’s agriculture and forestry business, the First Deputy Minister of Basic and Senior Education of Sierra Leone Emily Cogra shared her visions on country’s development and challenges of the education sector and other delegation members introduced different views on country’s business and investment opportunities.
Finnpartnership was present at the event together with other Team Finland members, Finland Chamber of Commerce, Business Finland and Finnfund. Perttu Pyykkönen from Finnish Central Union of Agricultural Producers and Forest Owners and Marjukka Mähönen from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland spoke about the current situation of agriculture and forestry in Finland, and Marjaana Sall, the Ambassador for Education at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Finland, presented the overview of the Finnish education. In addition, Habita Finland introduced their real estate business and experiences from Sierra Leone.
The event received positive feedback and it is expected that the event will increase the collaboration between Finland and Sierra Leone. The event was organized by Sierra Leone’s Consulate Planning Office in Finland.
