Opportunities in Mozambique!
30 November 2022
In November 2022, the president of Mozambique, Mr. Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, visited Finland along with a trade delegation. In connection to the visit, a Mozambique-Finland Business Forum, hosted by Business Finland, was organized at the Team Finland building on 17 November 2022. Several institutions and companies promoting international trade and foreign investments joined the business forum and Mr. Nyusi also held a keynote speech. Part of the delegation also visited Finnpartnership’s offices prior to the Business Forum.
The delegation encouraged Finnish companies to seize opportunities available in Mozambique’s transition to clean energy. Opportunities were also promoted in blue economy sectors that Mozambique wants to protect from environmental impacts, including coastal development and mangroves, fisheries and aquaculture, ports and maritime infrastructure, tourism, marine and coastal energies, as well as research and development. These sectors are vital for the country with its 2,700 km long coastline and waterways. The delegation also promoted opportunities in other sectors such as agriculture, production, tourism, and infrastructure development.
The country situated in Southeast Africa has a population of 31 million, which is expected to double in the next 30 years. Mozambique also has good access and trade connections with other southern African countries and serves as an export and import gateway for other landlocked neighboring countries.
