Finnpartnership’s visit to Mongolia opened new cooperation opportunities
6 November 2023
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Finland and Mongolia, Finnpartnership and its partners organised a Doing Business with Finland seminar in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on 3 October. The event brought together nearly 70 Finnish and Mongolian companies, especially from the mining, forestry, energy and handicraft sectors. The seminar was organised as part of a monthly event of the local partner Business Council of Mongolia, which members include companies working on mining, digital, infrastructure and sustainability solutions.
The event showcased business opportunities for Finnish companies in Mongolia, with a particular focus on the themes of the seminar. Finnpartnership presented Business Partnership Support, grant financing that Finnish companies can apply for when starting a long-term business, as well as the Matchmaking service, where Mongolian companies can register to find a Finnish business partner. Representatives of the Finnish companies also had the opportunity to share what kind of partners and business opportunities they are looking for in Mongolia. The event culminated in a Matchmaking session where the participating companies got to meet each other. There was great interest in Finnish expertise and the event also opened up new potential cooperation opportunities. The Finnish delegation was represented by Suokone Oy, Normet Oy, Planora Oy, EPSE Oy and Sera Helsinki Oy.
During the visit, Finnpartnership also offered a Team Finland stand at the Mongolia Mining Expo for the Finnish companies. Many of the Expo visitors showed high interest in the Finnish mining solutions, and the Finnish companies made useful contacts at the fair. Around 200 companies from 20 different countries offering mining or other services were represented at the fair.
The Finnish delegation was also accompanied by Sera Helsinki Oy, an importer of wool carpets and other textile products made by Ethiopian and other developing country artisans, which was looking for home furnishing manufacturers in Mongolia. During the trip, Sera Helsinki was able to visit local producers of yak and cashmere wool.
