Quality and variety of products together with intriguing background stories make Tunisian crafts and design products interesting for Finnish importers and resellers.
On April 12th, Finnpartnership, the Finnish Embassy in Tunis and Tunisian handicraft association Office National de l’Artisanat came together to arrange a seminar for Tunisian female entrepreneurs and female-owned companies. The goal of the seminar was to get familiar with the local crafts and design industries, create business opportunities between the Tunisian producers and Finnish resellers and to inform the audience on exporting to Finland and elsewhere in Europe.
The seminar was arranged to promote gender equality which is the key component of Finnish development policy and Finnpartnership’s current three-year programme cycle.
Around 50 crafts and design companies were present, most of whom were owned or led by women. Their backgrounds and sizes varied greatly, and products made from textiles, natural material and ceramics were all featured in the products brought to the seminar from all around Tunisia. The majority of the products were designed in accordance with local culture and traditions, whereas some had also taken interesting inspiration from European and even Nordic design. The quality of products is supplemented by the intriguing stories behind the companies and the positive effects on women’s employment that they create.
Some of the products presented in the seminar can be seen in the pictures below.
If your company is interested in importing or reselling some of the products to Finland, please contact Finnpartnership’s Birgit Nevala or Patrik Bredbacka who can open the discussion with the relevant company. Expenses related to the starting of importing – such as meeting the partner and getting to know their production process – can be financially supported via Finnpartnership’s Business Partnership Support.

Finnpartnership would like to thank all participants and its partners for a great seminar!
