During 2020 there will be two separate Online SDG Boosters focusing on education sector. One is for those that are interested in East Africa (August and September) and the other one is for those interested in Central Asia (November). You can already register to the Online SDG Boosters behind the link found below.
SDG Boosters – the concept
Starting in early 2020, the brand-new SDG Boosters will bring together companies, NGOs, financial instruments and thematic experts to develop solutions and projects to address concrete needs identified from developing countries.
With the help of our local networks, we have identified main challenges and needs related to education during the 2019 eLearning Africa conference. The companies and organizations attending the Online SDG Boosters are expected to come together and create solutions and consortia in order to respond to the identified challenges. After the Online SDG Boosters, there’s an opportunity to join Finnpartnership for a visit to the countries to present the projects to key local stakeholders (if this is not possible due to the COVID-19 situation, this will be organized online).
The third (East Africa) and fourth (Central Asia) of the new SDG Boosters by Finnpartnership, UNTIL, Fingo and Business Finland are about Education and more specifically about Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and SDG 4.7: Global Citizenship Education.
What is SDG 4.7: Global Citizenship Education?
SDG 4.7 target explicitly links education to other SDGs and aligns with a lifelong learning framework as it expects to “By 2030, ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non‐violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development.
Co-creation and development of solutions at SDG Boosters
During 2020 two separated education SDG Boosters are arranged. One is for those that are interested in East Africa and the other one is for those interested in Central Asia. The Boosters will be held online and the participants are expected to participate all the sessions. The visit to the target country is optional.
After the orientation at the 1st Session, we come together to assess the needs and the suitability of our solutions. We begin the process of co-creating and developing our projects and consortia. At the 2nd Session, we continue to shape our products and projects and identify their development impacts and unique value propositions. We also learn to utilize public funding such as Finnpartnership and Business Finland. The Education SDG Boosters are held in cooperation with the Finnish National Agency for Education.
Preliminary agenda of 1st and 2nd Session
The Booster workshops start at 8.30 with registration and morning coffee , there is lunch break at 11.20 – 12.30 and the wrap-up of the day will take place at 12.30 – 13.30. After the official part of the workshop, there is possibility to stay and continue discussions with the organizers and experts till 15.00. More specific agenda will be published prior to the event.

When registering please let us know if you would like to take part in the SDG Booster focusing on East Africa, or the Booster focusing on Central Asia or both. SDG Booster (Central Asia) sessions will be arranged in November (dates TBC).
Please note that the organizers reserve the right to select the most suitable participants in order to ensure cross-sectoral contribution to the Boosters.
