Demand for Finnish energy and circular economy solutions at the Doing Business with Finland seminar in Namibia
6 March 2023
Finnpartnership, in cooperation with the Embassy of Finland in Windhoek and the Namibian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), organised a Doing Business with Finland seminar in Windhoek, Namibia, for the second time. Held on 21 February, the seminar gathered around 150 participants interested in circular economy, renewable energy and green transition solutions.
The matchmaking section of the event was very popular, and discussions were lively. Finnish renewable energy, circular economy and green transition solutions, as well as related training services, attracted Namibian organisations. Namibia is significantly increasing the production of renewable energy with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality and a leading position as a producer of green hydrogen. Finnish know-how is in demand for ongoing energy projects, and Finnpartnership also works actively as part of the Global Gateway strategy in directing Finnish companies to Namibia’s green hydrogen mega-projects. Circular economy is also gaining a foothold in Namibia. There is also a demand for Finnish expertise especially in the utilisation of fresh water and waste management in energy, agricultural and construction sectors.
Besides the seminar, Finnpartnership visited the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board which is Namibia’s leading investment promotion agency that started operations in 2021. It supports foreign companies, that are interested in investing in Namibia, and the development of the MSME sector. Some Finnish companies have used their services and are happy with their support. In addition, Finnpartnership visited Namibia’s leading waste treatment facility Rent-a-Drum, which is collaborating with a few Finnish companies, and the innovation center of the Namibia University of Science and Technology, which was established in cooperation with the Finnish Demola Global with the aim of promoting innovation solutions for university students and growth companies.
Finnpartnership thanks the Embassy of Finland in Windhoek, NCCI and the Finnish participants for the successful event.
